Day 20 Rarotonga

Today started with us deciding that we would go to a discovery centre that Kura had told us about located in Arorangi.

When we arrived I was surprised that the discovery centre was a place I had gone past before but not really noticed. After we had payed the entry fee we started exploring the place & were excited to find some live animals (We thought it would be like a museum), the first thing we saw were two massive blue coconut crabs that were in metal cages and one of the crabs was on the side of the cage so we were able to touch it’s legs (Personal warning, never touch the claw because it doesn’t like it very much, Trust me). The next thing we saw was a turtle called Ponu that Kura had saved when it was young . After that we saw a white hern called Liesel that had hurt it’s right wing so it was being looked after. Then we went to the aquarium that had lots of fish including: Stone fish, Lion-fish, Puffer fish, Box fish and small fish that I have forgotten the name of. After that we booked a ride on this reef sub that they also rerun for 4:00 PM that day and then we went into Avarua Because we had to wait for the time to pass while we waited we decided to go to the new place café to get lunch. After filling up on nachos (They had run out of patties for the new place burger I had originally ordered) we headed to the playground and while we were there we got a drink ( I got a turmeric latte on ice ) and then we went down to the harbour and found where the boat was ( The bout was a curies affair that looked like any small boat except a massive belly that had three windows on either side. After we got out of the harbour to where they said the fish were were these giant trevally came out of nowhere and started swimming next to the boat in search of free food which was duly given. With the giant trevally swimming with us we headed toward the remains of a massive sunken ship that was teaming with life. After the cruise it started raining so we boosted back home and relaxed before dinner.
